A must-read!

I ate this novella up in one sitting! I was hooked right from the beginning reading this slow-burn-to-sizzling-hot contemporary rom com set in Atlanta on the 4th of July. This steamy and heart melting story was told in a 1st person narrative with a dual POV, letting us into the lives of Amara and Jordan.

Native New Yorker, Amara, is in Atlanta to represent her foundation as she runs in the largest 15k in the world. Soon after the race begins, Amara runs into her former college classmate, Jordan, who she has secretly been fantasizing about since they first met. Unbeknownst to her, Jordan has also been pining over Amara for the last 7 years. The feelings and tension that built up after all those years apart is ready to explode! The author beautifully writes authentic and engaging dialogue that had me immersed in their banter, hot sexual tension, and undeniable chemistry. I felt like I was falling in love right alongside them.

It’s hard to believe Amara and Jordan’s story took place in a span of only 24 hours. The character development was well rounded & not only will you fall in love with Amara and Jordan, but you will love the hilarious dialogue between Amara and her bestie, Taneka. I felt the deep friendship between the two, their conversations were hilarious, and without Taneka bailing on Amara, this reunion would have gone down very differently. The 4th character to enter this love story I believe, was Jordan’s hometown, the city of Atlanta. I love the role the city plays in showing how entrenched these two are in philanthropy and community and the history of civil rights. As Jordan gives Amara a tour through his city, we get to know more about him and the impact he has on those he serves and why his job is so important to him….and I loved him even more. Let me tell you, the sparks flew in this book and they were most definitely hotter than this Hotlanta 4th of July!

I could have sat and read more of Amara and Jordan’s story for hours and was sad to see it end. That being said, I was left with a delicious last couple of chapters and a very happily ever after. My rating for this book is 5 stars because it is relatable, hilarious, steamy, inspiring, and left me wanting more.

In true Sizzling Reads fashion, I need to give Star-Spangled Swagger by Kamyra Harding a spice rating. I rate this book 2 chili peppers, as it offers descriptive sexual tension, foreplay, and intimate scenes sprinkled across a few chapters.
